If you looked in your wardrobe right now, I bet you would find at least one garment that you haven’t worn in a long time but you hold onto for some reason.
Perhaps it was worn at a memorable milestone event, belonged to your mother, or once fit perfectly but now you struggle to squeeze into it? Rather than leave your beloved dress, skirt, shirt or shorts in your wardrobe to collect dust, why not give it a new life?
Over the years, I have helped many clients to re-design and recycle various garments to get them out of the wardrobe and out in public for the world to see!
When I first meet a client, I get a feel for their personality and sense of style. I take on board all suggestions for change and offer my own recommendations as well. But ultimately, I want you to wear the re-designed garment with confidence and be fully satisfied with the end result.
Depending on the garment, it could take only one or a couple of fittings to ensure that the design and shape looks just right. The fittings also give you the opportunity to have your say in the whole process. You’ll be the one wearing it after all!
My favourite part of it all? The euphoria on a client’s face when they come to pick up the finished product. It’s why I love what I do.
Here is an example of a basic apricot coloured formal dress that one of my clients, Jenny, brought to me with the vision of giving it a makeover. After discussing Jenny’s ‘vision’, I gave the dress some tweaks – shortened it, added some tulle, and gave it a bit of love – and the final product was completely different! Another satisfied customer.
